How can I have my residency status adjusted/re-evaluated?
To have your residency status readjusted to that of a Florida resident, you will need to submit the form at the following link to admissions@usf.edu as soon as possible but before the first day of classes: /admissions/documents/gr-florida-residency-for-tuition.pdf
How do I know if I qualify for Florida Residency?
The State of Florida requires submitting two documents, which must be dated/issued 12 months before the first day of classes for the semester for which Florida residency is sought.
You can find a complete listing of the required documents and an outline of our residency guidelines here: /admissions/graduate/admission-information/residency-information.aspx
How do I defer my entry to a later semester?
To have your acceptance deferred to a later term, please email a request to defer with your U-ID# and the specific term to which you would like to defer to your respective Graduate Director. See here for contact info:
How to I submit official copies of my transcripts/test scores?
Within 30 days of the beginning of the semester, submit an official transcript from each institution you have attended and official test scores sent directly from the testing agency. Please see here for guidelines on submitting these materials: /admissions/graduate/next-steps/admitted-student-checklist.aspx
Holds: Immunizations, Insurance
How can I have my immunization hold removed?
To remove your immunization hold, you must submit a medical history form detailing your previous immunization history to Student Health Services, details can be found at: /student-affairs/student-health-services/immunizations/immuncompliance.aspx for further guidance.
Additionally, please see the link below for an overview of the immunizations hold and clearance process: /student-affairs/student-health-services/immunizations/index.aspx
I鈥檓 enrolled in a completely online program. Why is the immunization hold still appearing on my account?
Course registration is not impacted by the presence of the IM and/or MH hold(s).
In the event you are unable to register to an online course contact the department hosting the course to resolve the issue.

Registration
How do I go about registering for classes?
Class registration is completed through MyUSF, Student Self-Service. (Access Student Self-Service by logging into MyUSF)
Detailed overview of the course registration process: /registrar/register/
How do I get a course permit?
Some courses or sections of a course, have restrictions such as pre-requisites, co-requisites or permission by academic department that are required in order to register.
Your major鈥檚 designated Graduate Director is a great person to start with to secure a permit, but you can also find additional departmental contact information here: /registrar/services/permit.aspx
When is the last day to register for classes?
Refer to the USF Registrar's calendar: /registrar/calendars/
The last day to register is typically the Friday before the start of classes, without incurring a late registration fee, but you can continue to add/drop classes through your Student Self-Service account throughout the first week of classes until the next Friday. Please check the official university registrar calendar to be sure.
Beyond that point, you鈥檒l need to connect with your designated graduate director for your major to be added late via a graduate petition.
When do classes begin this semester?
Please refer to the USF Registrar's calendar: /registrar/calendars/
How do I register for classes if I am attending USF on a state employee tuition waiver?
You can find a detailed overview of the state employee tuition waiver process at the link embedded below, but the most important thing to remember is not to register until the Friday prior to the start of classes otherwise you will be automatically deemed ineligible to receive the waiver: /business-finance/controller/student-services/student-accounting/waivers-state.aspx
Advising, Course Selection, or Major-specific Concerns
Who can I talk to about advising and course selection?
Your major鈥檚 designated Graduate Director and/or point of contact will be best equipped to provide you with further guidance and advising on course selection throughout your graduate studies at USF.
Please reach out to your program for assistance with course planning and progression. The Office of Graduate Studies does not have an advising department. Instead, at USF each graduate program maintains their academic and advising operations within the department/college/school.
If you haven鈥檛 already done so, we would definitely encourage you to reach out to them and introduce yourself!
Please see here for major-specific Graduate Program Director contact information:
Do you know if there is also a major-specific orientation for my program?
Some graduate majors offer major-specific orientations in addition to the more general orientation being offered here, which is a great opportunity for meeting your fellow students!
The graduate program director for your major may have already reached out, or you can inquire if there is an orientation by contacting them directly.
Connect with your designated Graduate Program Director using the contact information found here:
