LSH Overview

The undergraduate major in Language-Speech-Hearing (LSH) provides pre-professional study preparing students for graduate studies in a variety of areas including the M.S. or M.A. in Speech-Language Pathology, the Doctor of Audiology (Au.D.), and the Doctor of Philosophy in Communication Sciences & Disorders (Ph.D.). Effective in 1989, a Master鈥檚 degree is required for Speech-Language Pathologists in the public schools.

Sarasota students, please note that the LSH program is under consideration for closure. It is highly recommended that you transfer to the Tampa campus or change major in case the program is approved to close.


LSH Coursework

Coursework is sequenced for the LSH major in the areas of language, speech, and hearing science. All students must complete study in basic knowledge of the communication sciences and in basic knowledge of communication disorders. Upon admission to the major, each student will be assigned an advisor to provide guidance in academic planning.This program is only offered as a full-time program at this time.
