Masters of Arts in Reading Education
USF’s fully online Master of Arts in Reading Education prepares expert literacy educators and leaders who can strengthen reading, writing, and digital literacy across diverse learning environments. Through interactive online coursework, students explore global, disciplinary, critical, and media literacies while developing advanced instructional and coaching skills. Designed for working educators, the program offers both one-year fast-track and part-time options to fit your schedule.
What you will learn
ºÚÁÏÉç will build a deep understanding of literacy as a global, social, and academic practice while learning to design instruction grounded in research and disciplinary expertise. They will develop critical literacy pedagogies, refine media and digital literacy competencies, and strengthen their ability to support readers through inclusive and evidence-based practices. Throughout the program, students gain practical coaching and leadership skills, engage with digital tools, produce media-rich instructional materials, and apply literacy strategies that can be immediately implemented in classrooms and community settings.

This fully online program is designed for working professionals, offering flexible pathways, including a one-year fast track or a part-time option completed in 2–2.5 years. ºÚÁÏÉç participate in live evening sessions for collaboration and networking, while also engaging in asynchronous coursework that includes video production, digital tool use, educational gaming, and media literacy applications. Throughout the program, students learn from nationally recognized literacy faculty, apply research-based practices in real time, and graduate prepared to lead, coach, and design innovative literacy initiatives in classrooms, schools, and community settings.
