Taste of Fall River Dinner

It’s becoming a staple of Redding Beer Week: Fall River Brewing’s Taste of Fall River dinner, in which guests get to sample local cuisine paired with some of Fall River’s best brews. We noshed on steak and goat chops, wild rice, strawberry salad made with local strawberries, garlic bread made from scratch in Fall River, and my personal favorite, carrot cake made by bartender Brent Hawkin’s mom featuring carrots from her garden and a killer cream cheese frosting.

The 7pm seating was packed with enthusiastic drinkers, and the party was a lively one.¬†Owners John and Amanda Hutchins were there, serving up food and beer, while Brent and Fall River’s newest bartender Mark Rhodes kicked down some awesome brew. John’s recommendations – the Hexagenia IPA with the meats and the Colossus Imperial Stout with the carrot cake. And while the Hex was a spicy counterpoint to the red meat, the creamy, chocolatey Colossus elevated the already excellent carrot cake to unexpected heights.

Another year, another barbecue with excellent people, excellent food, and excellent beer. We’re already looking forward to seeing what they cook up next year.
