The specialty menus highlighted the “afternoon delight” small plates and the beers specifically picked to go best with each mini meal. We order the side salad with strawberries, goat cheese, and glazed walnuts, paired with the Kellerweis, and a round of sliders topped in beer cheese paired with the HopHunter. The strawberry vinaigrette, and creamy goat cheese brought out the sweet banana hints of the hazy Kellerweis – a refreshingly light salad with a creamy crisp beer. The heavy beer cheese on the sliders matched the potent HopHunter in both flavor and complexity. The HopHunter infused with hop oils was had a smooth mouthfeel while still remaining crisp and refreshing.
What better to finish our pairing experience than a thick slice of raspberry cheesecake with the remainder of our brews! The HopHunter was decent, but the Kellerweis took the gold. It blended with the creamy cheesecake better than I could have imagined. My mouth went from tasting creamy raspberries to smooth banana so effortlessly. A thoroughly enjoyable afternoon devoted to beer week was had by all.
